We have a few expansion plans happening at Green Farm at the moment; production rooms, offices and a few other plans (more of which another time). So we’ve been having a sort out and a tidy up and during a run of sunny weather managed a spot of gapping up some of the hedges around Green Farm. Foraging for hedgerow fruit was the inspiration for our much-loved Sloe Gin, and it was the sloes that took us back to the hedges to gather botanicals for our Hedgerow Gin.
Mark gapped up with 12 month hedging whips of Blackthorn, Hawthorn, Field Maple, Dog Rose and Crab Apple, all from our neighbours at Castle Howard; they’ve now been planted in biodegradeable guards with canes for support. Here’s hoping they bear some fruit for us.
THIS MONTH WE ARE;
CELEBRATING; March is full of Sloemo birthdays – First up Sarah’s 50th – celebrated with a bowl of deliciously hearty stew and Yorkshires made by the talented Dan of The Jolly Farmers pub in neighbouring village of Leavening – next up is Joff’s and swiftly followed by Pipp’s.
WATCHING; well it seems the majority of us are glued to Baptiste! – with a few exceptions addicted to The Great British Sewing Bee.
VISITING: Jules is off to Edinburgh, Sarah’s off to The Gower Peninsula, Adam’s off to Tenerife and Nat’s taking a mini break in Barcelona.
